Welcome to the Library
The King’s Library began in 1987 with the purchase of an 8,000 volume biblical collection from the Reverend Dick Mills. Much of this theological collection had been obtained from areas throughout Europe. The Mills’ collection provided the core of the library resources for The King’s Institute begun that year. With the transition of the institute to a four-year college in 1997 and the preparation for the opening of a graduate/professional theological seminary, the collection underwent major expansion in 1997-1999 to over 125,000 volumes. During this time the library was converted to the Library of Congress classification system. In the fall of 2000 The King’s Library converted to an OPAC (online public access catalog) and is now accessible via the Internet. In the summer of 2001, the library acquired the 47,000 volume collection of the International School of Theology, an ATS accredited institution. In 2003-2004 The King’s acquired an additional 12,000 volumes. This addition increased the collection to well over 170,000 volumes.
Students today have at their disposal: a thirty-two-station computer lab, which includes the Logos Bible System; eleven computers, accessing The King’s Library OPAC, Proquest, FirstSearch, Religious & Theological Abstracts, BibleWorks 5, Gramcord, and Religious & Theological Abstracts; and a microform reader.
The King’s collection is rich in scholarly works with strengths in Biblical studies and theology. The Library is designed to assist you to develop as a servant leader under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The library staff welcomes the opportunity to serve you, and they appreciate any input you can provide to make our library better.
